fairly traded crafts and musical instruments
from around the world
I have loved drawing and painting since my grandad taught me to paint as a child. I went on to take a fine art degree at Sheffield Polytechnic from 1982-1985.After graduating I was lucky enough to find varied and interesting work which subsequently became the varied and interesting work involved in raising our three children.During this time I continued to draw and paint occasionally but have only recently started to do so more seriously - after I left my last job as a teaching assistant to home educate one of our children. I love texture, light and colour and I am inspired by the wonderful world around us.You will find examples of my paintings on my website.

Over the past three years I have developed a fascination with mosaics. I love the colour, movement and texture achievable. It is wonderful to try to create something with movement and soft lines from such hard materials. My mosaics include jewellery, glass, ceramic, antique china, sea glass, buttons and whatever else takes my fancy and I often layer glass over a painted or printed background. I am currently learning to make my own small fused glass pieces to add to my mosaics. I also work with glass paints on mirror and glass panels. Take a look here.

I started to travel to fairs and festivals and in 2008 I started my own business Wandering Ware? I decided to sell other handcrafted items alongside my own. I loved the idea of providing a range of crafts from different countries but I needed to avoid trading in goods that had involved exploitation in any way. I therefore only sell goods that are fairly traded. I use wholesalers who have personal relationships with their artisans and who are registered with BAFTS.
Using a few different wholesalers enables me to provide a wide range of items that are different and unique.
